FavEats
A progressive web app that recommends favourite food places near the user's current or selected location.
archived

Why it existed
I kept discovering good food places around Singapore, then forgetting them when I was nearby again. Google Maps was useful, but it was not built around how I choose food: cuisine, personal favourites, opening hours, and other food-specific filters mattered more than a generic place search.
The friction it answered
Food apps are good at search and ratings, but less good at answering: what are my own favourite places near here, and are they open?
What was built
A progressive web app using Svelte, Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Tailwind CSS, and a background scraper that collected Burpple wishlist and venue data.
What it left behind
Archived in 2024, but it remains a good example of building a small personal system around repeated everyday friction.
